About The Derrick Brothers
Way back in elementary school, William and Christopher got into mischief by convincing their friends to wear crazy costumes and talk in funny accents for the movies they made in their backyard.
William and Christopher hail from Shaker Heights, Ohio and traveled extensively in Germany, France, Austria, Mexico, Egypt, Columbia, and Ecuador before arriving in Los Angeles as The Derrick Brothers.
A member of the "Go Blue!" nation, Christopher graduated from the University of Michigan. William started off at West Virginia University then graduated from Ohio University. They joined together again at USC's summer intensive production workshop and UCLA's extension program. They went on to write, edit, produce and direct several short films, commercials, music videos and documentaries.
They immediately wrote and directed the short film THE CHOP SHOP, which premiered at the Atom Films' Digital Filmmakers Showcase as part of the Sundance Film Festival.
In 2005, Christopher had a bad feeling about the economy and collaborated with William to write and direct a sci-fi satire called GRACE PERIOD (aka F*CK YOU, PAY ME!) starring the Olympian Carl Lewis and Leonard Roberts (co-star of Drumline and the NBC show "Heroes"). F*CK YOU, PAY ME! won "best short film" in multiple international film festivals, including the Hollywood Black Film Festival, the Arizona Verizon-Wireless Black Film Festival, Amsterdam's Africa in the Picture Film Festival.
They took on various screenwriting projects, working with Oscar-winning producer Wendy Finerman to create the sequel to the hit film Drumline. Subsequently, the Derrick Brothers developed feature film projects with Janet Yang, Brett Ratner and Mace Neufeld.
The Derrick Brothers are represented by: L. Wayne Alexander at Alexander, Nau, Lawrence, Frumes & Labowitz, LLP.
