5-Bullet Friday – September 7th, 2018

Hi All!

Here is your weekly dose of “5-Bullet Friday”, a list of what I’m enjoying or pondering.

Article I’m reading —

The Unlikely Activist Who Took On Silicon Valley – And Won (NYTimes Magazine) by Nicolas Confessore. The most lucrative mining in the last twenty years isn’t gold, diamonds or rare earth metals, but data mining. We cede a tremendous amount of our privacy over to Google and Facebook, in a way that even their engineers admit is scary. This article details how Alastair Mactaggart established a privacy law, the kind Europe has but the US doesn’t, and it’s wholly fascinating.

Purchase I’m enjoying —

Full Focus Planner by Michael Hyatt. I can’t stress enough how this quarterly/weekly/daily planner has improved my daily and weekly efficiency. I’m always looking for ways to tweak and improve my process — for whatever, writing, learning, teaching, relaxing — and this has been a Godsend.

Music I’m listening to —

Aretha Franklin’s Catalog on Spotify. We lost a tremendous musical voice the other week. The Queen of Soul embodied everything about the last 40 years of the American Experience in the 20th century and demanded respect for Blackness in this troubled country that never wanted to give Blacks their just due.

Junk food that I’m loving —

Trader Joe’s Swedish Swimmers. I have a tremendous sweet tooth, so I’m always looking for new candies or updates on old favorites. These Swedish Fish-alternatives are even more addictive and have such great texture and taste. Don’t take my word for it, try it yourself!

Quote I’m pondering —

“You want to write a sentence as clean as a bone. That’s the goal.”James Baldwin

Please give me your feedback on Twitter. Which bullet above is your favorite? What do you want more or less of? Just send a tweet to @unauthorizedcbd and put #5BulletFriday at the end so I can engage with you.

Have a great weekend!
